Argireline Versus LifeCell Skin. Which is Best?

Argireline is claimed to be a ‘botox alternative’ but other products also
make this claim. So how effective is it when compared to a top end
anti-aging cream like LifeCell from Southbeach Skin Care?

First thing to know is that Argireline can have some drawbacks
because it relaxes the muscles that we use when we smile, frown etc.
Some women have claimed to experienced a sagging of the facial muscles or droopy eyelids..this isdefinately not a good side effect, BUT there are no real studies to prove or disprove this.  However, it IS something to consider if you plan on using it over a long period.

We recently tried out Argireline on two of our volunteers and they reported a definite decrease in wrinkles but not nearly as much as the 30% stated in some of advertisments.  They didn’t have any problems with sagging muscles, but they only used it for two months. Perhaps not long enough to experience the issue with sagging or drooping that some women say they have had.  However, personally I would have an issue with using a product long term that may cause me to look older
as opposed to younger!

LifeCell Skin also say that THEIR product is a Botox alternative….however, here’s the important thing…. LifeCell does not inhibit the facial muscles so there is no danger of it causing sagging or drooping.  It works in a totally different way by using an ingredient called Deanol which is both a plumping agent for the skin and a firming agent for the muscles under the skin.

It’s a little more expensive than Argireline but it appears to be more effective in reducing the overall appearance of aging because it’s a complete all-in-one product for the face, eyes, lips and neck.  LifeCell has always offered a 30 day free trial and the fact that they still do this after 3 years or so, is a good indicator that many people are happy with the results they are getting and continue to buy after their free trial.

Latest Wrinkle Cream Reviews

A couple of good wrinkle cream reviews for the new year….First, Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair.

This is a really affordable product and is rated quite well.  The main benefit is improved skin tone and complexion, especially if you have reddening of the skin on your face – a common sign of aging.  One of the claims by Neutrogena is that this serum brightens skin tone and it certainly lives up to that claim.

What about wrinkles?  Rapid Wrinkle Repair contains Retinol SA, a form of Vitamin A proven to penetrate the skin and help reduce wrinkles and age spots.  In fact they tell us it contains ‘accelerated’ SA. Certainly makes it sound good!  Another great ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid, a powerful moisturizer that has a plumping effect on the skin.

This product has been pretty popular so there are loads of reviews to be found.  As far as wrinkles are concerned, there’s about a 50:50 split in those who say yes, they see an improvement and those who say they see no improvement.  However, there is one area where it seems to be really effective, and that’s sun damage.  Customers report using it on their chest where sun damage is really obvious, and seeing good results.  Another benefit for your face is softer skin.

Bear in mind that Retinol can cause skin irritation and burning.  A little burning and slight redness is ok providing it disappears quickly, but any more than that and it probably means that you are too sensitive to Retinol and should stop using it.  Continuing to use Retinol when you have a bad reaction to it, can actually cause permanent skin damage, so don’t do it!

Overall, Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair gets good ratings for a lower
price range anti aging cream.

Second, Neuvaderm Rejuvenating Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkle & Moisturizing Cream. This one has great reviews, but be careful where you buy it from as there can be a huge difference in price between retailers.  By far the cheapest place is Amazon and there’s a link below.

Nevaderm works really well on fine lines and skin tone. It can take anything from a week to a month before you start to see results.  Also makes some difference to expression lines, such as the lines around your mouth.  One of the reasons it has such good reviews is because it’s light and goes on easily – even if you want to apply it a little thicker on deeper wrinkles – without leaving a greasy film on your face.  Plus it’s completely odourless.

The pump dispenser uses vacuum rather than a tube, so you don’t waste a single drop.  For the price, you can’t fault Nevaderm and it makes a great addition to your anti-aging regime!

Cheapest price here from Amazon

Dove Spa Strength Within Reviews

It’s now three months since Dove Spa Strength Within went on the market so the earliest customers should now be seeing some results.  Dove Spa recommend 14 weeks minimum taking three pills a day.  So what are customers saying?  Good question because there are no reviews to be found anywhere!

Maybe this is because the Strength Within pill is so far only available in the UK and has not really gone out to the mass market yet.  Plus it can only be bought from one website, Dove Spa, and there is no place on there for customers to submit testimonials.

We bought our own 3 month supply and had them shipped over to us. We’re now on our 9th week.  Nothing to show so far, but it’s early days.  Time will tell!

One of the things that Dove Spa say, is that it’s best to use the Wrinkle pills alongside a good anti-aging cream.  If you’ve read any of our wrinkle cream reviews, you’ll know that we rate Lifecell Skin above any other cream on the market.  One of the main reasons is the ability of Lifecell to firm up our sagging facial muscles, but that’s not the only reason.  It also tackles wrinkles better than any we’ve tried and gives your face a really youthful overall complexion.

So looks like we will have to wait a while for the Strength Within reviews to come out.  There are a couple of things that might put people off these pills and the first is the fact that it IS a pill and is new, so we can’t be certain that there will be no side effects in the long term.  Second is the gelatin capsule. There are a lot of vegetarians amongst the population now.  It’s cheaper to use gelatin for the outer coating of a capsule than it is to use a better alternative, but most quality products that come in capsule form, have long since ditched the gelatin.

What Does Retinol Do For Your Lips?

Retinol is being used in more and more lip products.  The skin around our lips is thinner than the skin on the rest of our face (excepting our eyes) so this is often where we have more wrinkles.  If you don’t have them yourself, you will have seen on others those characteristic lines going up from the top lip towards the nose.  This is something that’s more common in women than it is in men. Smokers will get them earlier too. Some of us just smile and laugh more often than others and this is contributor to lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

As well as this, our lips get thinner and lose colour and definition as we get older.  Retinol has collagen boosting qualities so for this reason it’s now used as an ingredient in lip enhancers, sometimes called lip plumpers.  An instant, but temporary way to get fuller, more pouty lips of course is with collagen injections which cost around $300 a time.  So very pricey, plus you may end up with some swelling for a week or two, making you look a bit like a fish!  Seriously though, most people do not have the means to pay out several hundred dollars every couple of months, so what’s the next best alternative?  Using a retinol based lip product, plus a good lip moisturizer because retinol can dry out the lips.

What kind of results can you expect and how fast?  It depends on the product you use, but if you use a good quality one, you can expect to see plumping of the lips, increased definition and if your lips have lost some colour, ie, they have gone paler than they were when you were younger, you should also see some of that colour coming back.  It can take a few weeks or longer, up to a couple of months before you get the full effects, but it’s well worth it.

Your lips are an important ‘focal’ point of your face and using a plumper with retinol will help to restore them to their former glory.  Thin, lined lips are a dead givaway when it comes to our age, but it’s more than just how others see us that matters.  It’s a well known fact that if we feel more attractive, we are more attractive! One really good lip product with tons of great reviews is Pevonia Botanica. Basically this one is not cheap, but it’s highly concentrated and does last a long time as you only use two drops of the serum for each application.  It utilizes ‘time-release’ technology to constantly nourish the lips.  It will plump your lips and the skin around them, thereby decreasing wrinkles.  It will also give your lips a better contour and make them more defined. Over the longer term, it will repair cells and boost new cell activity. As this is a serum that you apply at night, which is then absorbed to keep on working all of the next day too, there is nothing to stop you also using a day time plumper/moisturizer as well.

Fabulously Terrific Homemade Facials with Oatmeal

Hi there, this is a just a quick post to pass on some great info I picked up the other day re using oatmeal as the main ingredient in facials.  You don’t have to spend tons of money on a facial when you can make your own right at home, using natural ingredients found in your kitchen.  One of the best ingredients to cleanse your skin is oatmeal. In fact oatmeal is in lots of body skin products. Here are a couple of homemade recipes for you to try out

Warm up a half cup of water. In a bowl, mix together instant oatmeal, some cinnamon, a tablespoon of honey and a little milk. Add the warm water and mix together thoroughly until you have a paste. Apply evenly over your face, avoiding the eye area. Leave it on for one hour then wash off with water and a mild, organic soap, or any soap you have to hand but use as little as possible

This next recipe is great for dry skin sufferers. Mix a cup of instant oatmeal with a ripe, mashed up banana. Thin to a creamy paste using milk. Apply all over your face and neck, but avoid the eyes again and let sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with luke warm water and again if you have it, mild organic soap

Either of these face masks will exfoliate your skin and give it a great boost without spending any money!  It doesn’t matter which anti aging cream you happen to be using, you still need regular facials to get rid of the dead skin cells and just generally revitalise your skin!

Retinol Strength

If you plan to buy a retinol product for anti aging, you’re probably wondering what strength to get.  Should you go for the highest concentration available in order to get more ‘bang for your buck’?. Or should you be cautious and go for a lower strength, less powerful but ‘safer’ product?

Let’s first look at the results you are likely to get with the most potent Retinol products and also with the least potent so that we can compare the differences.  The highest strength on the market is 1.5% although for most users this is way too strong and may cause too much redness, puffiness and skin peeling.  1.0 is still very strong and 0.5 is often strong enough. Most products contain a lot less than even 0.5, hence they are usually cheaper. We’re going to look at the results from using the 1.0, the 0.5 and also the inexpensive versions with much less retinol in them.

First thing to realise is that retinol is effective for wrinkles and lines, age spots, blemishes and blotchiness. It is not effective for toning up the skin sagging associated with aging. If you have this problem, you would be better using the Deanol product, Lifecell Skin, which also deals with all the other signs of skin aging. However, if your main areas of concern are only wrinkles and complexion, then retinol is a good choice. Most regular users of the 1.0% cream report very positive effects, especially on complexion. They do recommend though that new users start with the 0.5% strength because it can be a bit of a shock to the skin if starting with the higher one. So the idea is to start off with a weaker strength (but not too weak) for at least a month and then upgrade to the higher.  This way you can get the most benefit from the product, without burning your skin!  As far as the very weak creams and serums go, most customers report little or no improvement so this is one instance where you really do need to pay a bit more if you want results.

Now let’s take a look at the potential downsides of using the more concentrated retinol creams.  The main one really is photosensitivity. Retinol can cause the skin to react to sunlight even more than it normally does.  In a nutshell, your face is more at risk of sunburn.  The more of the active ingredient in the product you are using, the higher the sensitivity.  So very weak creams will cause no problems in this area, but then you won’t get results either so it’s a bit pointless.  There is one obvious answer and that’s to use a good sunblock while you are using retinol on your skin.  It goes without saying that you ought to be doing this anyway if you want your face to look more youthful!  Another downside is the chance of your skin reacting by going red, peeling and even swelling. Some peeling and redness is common and as long as it’s not severe and goes away after 10 days or so, there’s no problem.  Use your judgement or take the advise of users as mentioned above and start with a 0.5% solution. SkinCeuticals is a trusted brand that markets both a 1.0 and 0.5 solution and has many good reviews.

Anti Aging Hand Creams

Anti Aging Hand CreamHand cream is a must. After all, dry knobby hands aren’t really appealing for anyone. Have you ever had to look away from someone with hands matching that description? How many people have worried about their hands looking “too old”? If left uncared for, your hands really can begin to age faster than the rest of you. Your hands are in use much more than any other part of your body. Think about all of the things you use your hands to do during a day. Looking after your hands a little more can help to protect and preserve them a little longer. Here are some ways to pick the best hand cream to use on your hands.

Give the cream some time to work. You want to know for sure if the cream is right use if for some time before giving up on it. Before you can tell if a particular product is worth its weight in gold you need to use it regularly over a couple of weeks before you give up on it. Obviously if you have an allergic reaction to the cream you’ve chosen you can move on right away. Other than that it’s important to continue use for several days at least. You’ll have to figure out whether you’re using too much or not enough by the feel of your skin which might be somewhat oily at first. Sometimes the brand you choose can make a big difference and it’s easy to buy into all of the hype that different brands use on their labels. If you really want to use one particular brand, find one that’s been around for a very long time, you know it must be good or it would have died out ages ago.

The best anti-aging hand creams will work on age spots, wrinkles and dry skin, as well as conditioning your nails.  Robana anti-aging hand cream has some excellent customer reviews, with users reporting that it makes their hands look youthful and smooth. Another really good one is Derma E Age Reversal Formula for Youthful Hands. Again there are some really great reviews and the price is not to high either.  Reverses the signs of aging on your hands and works on the nails and cuticles as well.  Plus it’s certified free of animal testing.

Remember that your hands give your age away as much as your face does, so use a quality hand cream and this way you won’t be trying to hide your hands for fear of letting everyone know your age!

Nobody Wants A Saggy Face !

It’s official, the biggest concern that women have about their face as they age, is a saggy face.  This is over and above wrinkles, age spots or any of the other signs of saggy facefacial aging.  The biggest problem here is that sagging is more difficult to treat than wrinkles or complexion.  Hence so many women reluctantly end up going for surgery.  A face lift, lifts the muscles below the skin because this is what causes sagging, ie the muscles, not the actual skin itself.  So if we think about this for a moment…  muscles lose their tone and go soft and saggy right?  We already know this if we have lost muscle tone in other parts of our body.  It’s not so easy to get it back again.  In fact I noticed recently that some retailers have now designed Jeans that lift your buttocks when you wear them.  Surprise, surprise, they’re selling like hotcakes!

As far as a saggy face is concerned, and neck too, because necks can really show up our age, a lot of women feel that a face lift is their only option.  I’m not going to go into all the cons of surgery because I’m trusting that if you are reading this, you’re  probably already quite clued up on all that. There is one thing however, that does a pretty good job on those facial muscles to give them some more tone and firmness. That’s Deanol.  Now, Deanol is present in a number of quality anti aging creams, but often there’s not enough of it present.  One of the biggest problems with advertising is not so much that it ‘lies’ but that it fools the consumer.  Having a proven ingredient in a product doesn’t always mean much because there has to be a certain amount of that ingredient before it will work for you.

The best Deanol product I know of at this current time is LifeCell Skin. Though not cheap, it does do the job.  It’s not going to be as instant or drastic as surgery of course, but even though it’s a little pricey in comparison to some others, it’s still a fraction of the cost of a face lift, plus of course without the risks

You are going to need to use it for four months to see some real differences to your saggy face and neck skin, but the other benefits of LifeCell kick in a lot sooner, such as the usual wrinkle reduction and improvements to your skin tone.

The company that makes this cream will allow you to order your first month’s supply without paying for it.  In fact you don’t pay for it at all the first month apart from a small amount of shipping.  This is their way of letting you test it out for yourself.  You can get it here from their website:  LifeCell Skin with Deanol

Dove Spa Strength Within Beauty Supplement Goes On Sale

The world’s very first anti wrinkle pill, Dove Spa Strength Within Beauty Supplement claims to significantly reduce wrinkles from the inside, especially those deep wrinkles that are so difficult to treat with creams alone.  But is it just more hype and empty Dove Spa Strength Within Beauty Supplementpromises?  Are 1000′s of women and men going to be disappointed yet again in their quest to look younger?  Let’s take a look at the product and what science is actually saying about it

According to the New Scientist, a study was carried out on over 500 women between the ages of 35 and 72, so a very broad age range of subjects. The study took place over approximately four months, which is the length of time the company recommends that you take Dove Spa Strength Within Beauty Supplement.  Reported results were very impressive with most women getting good results of up to 30% improvement in wrinkle depth and volume.  As mentioned already, the deep wrinkles seem to the ones that show the most change.

The reason that deep wrinkles are the most problematic to treat with topical applications such as anti aging creams, is that it’s hard for creams to penetrate down far enough through those deeper, tougher skin layers.  Because Dove Spa Strength within works as they say, from ‘within’, the makers and the scientists who have studied it, say that it can do the job that the wrinkle creams cannot.  No wonder then that masses of people have been rushing to order it, the moment it went on sale.  However, the the wrinkle pills alone will not do the whole job for you, they are designed for the deep lines and wrinkles.  So to perfectly compliment that you should use an anti aging cream that combats sagging skin, fine lines and age spots.  Lifecell Skin is the best on the market according to the research we’ve carried out.  It contains Deanol which is the closest thing to a face lift in a bottle!  You can try it for a month before paying for it…  the company’s way of building their customer base. If you click on ‘Lifecell’ at the top of the page, you can read more about it.

What I would say is that the Strength Within pill is not going anywhere.  Meaning it will still be there in two or three months time and by then, there will be a ton of reviews and testimonials around.  So far all we know is that it has been reported to work in a clinical trial.  There is no harm in hanging on a little while to see how the general public get on with it.  Especially as you will require at least three months supply as recommended by the makers and sellers.

Unfortunately this wrinkle pill is not suitable for vegetarians which is a shame as it excludes a large section of the population.  This is probably because the capsule shell contains gelatin, something that used to be very common. Nowadays though most capsule shells are made with an alternative to ensure they are suitable for everyone.

Whatever your thoughts are on Dove Spa Strength Within Beauty Supplement, it represents a turning point in wrinkle treatment. It will be interesting to see what sort of effect it has on other parts of the body, besides the face and neck.  You can be certain that there are other companies right now, working on their own competing brand of wrinkle pill and striving to make it as good if not better than the original.  So it looks like before too long, all of us who really want to look younger, will be able to combat wrinkles from the inside as well as the outside.  An exciting prospect for sure!

Does Deanol Work On Lip Wrinkles?

Deanol is often referred to as DMEA so don’t get confused here because they are one in the same. The correct name is dimethylaminoethanol. There are two purposes of deanolDeanol as an anti-aging cream ingredient. The first is as a muscle toner for saggy skin and muscles around the eyes, jaw line etc. The second, is as a lip plumper, in other words reducing or eliminating lip wrinkles and giving a fuller lip appearance

It kind of sounds too good to be true because we’ve always been led to believe that injections are the only real way to get nice wrinkle free and full lips. So let’s investigate a bit further and see exactly what Deanol does and if it works for those that use it. Before we do that, let’s take a look at exactly what it is, because this will help us understand the theory behind the claims.

According to medical reports, Deanol is produced in the brain and is very important part of making sure our muscles work properly. This is not the only function, but the only one relevant to finding out why this substance might work in an anti aging cream. It’s already been used for a long time now for treating neuro-muscular illnesses, but this is always with oral administation, not putting it on the skin. There has been studies on animal embryos where Deanol was applied topically and the results were positive, but this is hardly the same thing as a live human subject.

However, there has been a study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology that is far more interesting. The study reports that in human trials, applying Deanol every day for sixteen weeks to the face and neck resulted in some quite astonishing changes in the skin and lips of the subjects. Lip wrinkles were reduced or disappeared completely and lips were fuller and more defined. There were marked improvements in sagginess and wrinkles on both the face and the neck. One of the most important things to note here, is that the results were still intact even weeks after the subject stopped applying Deanol to their skin. Additionally, long term studies of using it on the face and neck have reported no adverse side effects, so nothing to indicate that it’s unsafe in any way

Another human study of Deanol in Quebec was purely on wrinkles and how does this substance perform. The study concluded that it does in fact reduce wrinkles, but it also found one other very interesting thing. Deanol caused cells to expand. Now this accounts for the almost instant effect on our lip wrinkles and explains how lips will look plumped. Because it also increases circulation, we get more colour and life to our lips.

So Deanol is clinically proven to work as an active ingredient in anti aging products, plus as an effective compound to tackle lip wrinkles. One thing you have to look out for though, is creams that do not contain enough of it. In fact many creams don’t contain enough of ANY of the active ingredients. The reason for this is that these active substances are the expensive ones. So don’t expect to pay 10 dollars for a wrinkle cream and have it packed full of effective ingredients such as Deanol!
